The Difference Between Zinc Steel and Zinc-Iron Alloys

A zinc-iron alloy is a mixture of zinc and iron bonded together by metallic bonds. It is a single, homogeneous material exhibiting uniform physical and chemical properties. Unlike zinc-iron alloys, zinc steel is not an alloy material, but rather a metallic composite material with a layer of zinc coating on the surface of steel. This zinc layer effectively isolates the steel from the external environment, thus providing rust prevention and corrosion resistance. Therefore, although both zinc steel and zinc-iron alloys involve the elements zinc and iron, their structures, properties, and applications differ significantly.
