The specifications for window balustrade height are as follows:
Low-rise and multi-story residential buildings: The clear height of balcony balustrades should not be less than 1.05m.
Mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings: The clear height of balcony balustrades should not be less than 1.10m. Enclosed balcony balustrades should also meet this height requirement. Additionally, solid balustrades are recommended for balustrades in mid-rise, high-rise, and cold/severely cold regions.
Furthermore, the following points should be noted regarding window balustrade height specifications:
Vertical clearance between balustrades: Based on ergonomic principles, to prevent children from crawling out, the spacing between vertical members of the balustrade (including partial balustrades) should be less than 0.11m.
Window sill protection measures: For exterior windowsills without adjacent balconies or platforms, if the clear height from the ground is low (less than 0.90m), protective measures should be taken. The effective protective height should ensure a clear height of 0.90m, and surfaces such as ledges and horizontal railings that are less than 0.45m above the floor (ground) and could easily be climbed unintentionally should not be included in the window sill clear height.
Railway Material and Construction: Railings should be made of sturdy and durable materials and capable of withstanding the horizontal loads specified in the load code. Furthermore, the construction of the railings should prevent children from climbing them.
